The proposed module provides a program with the following goals:

  • preparation and implementing of the educational course “Citizen participation: challenges and European experience for Ukraine” for students of all specialties of Sumy State University. Also, this course will be publicly available on the Examenarium Sumdu platform (https://examenarium.sumdu.edu.ua/), where it will be available for local deputies, local self-government officials, civil servants, teachers, and all interested persons.
  • creation of a project web page on the website of the Department of Fundamental Jurisprudence and Constitutional Law, development of an online platform based on the Facebook social network for communication of all interested parties on issues of project implementation, as well as direct coverage of all events that will take place;
  • holding an annual panel discussion, ―Best practices of public participation: EU experience for Ukraine‖ for the academic, professional community, civil servants, officials of state authorities and local self-government bodies, representatives of public organizations, and the public to highlight problematic issues of the implementation of public participation tools and their solutions with the help of the positive experience of the EU countries, establishing interaction and cooperation between the public and representatives of state authorities and local self-government.
  • conducting an annual workshop for pupils and students, ―Experience of implementing public participation standards in the EU and Ukraine,” to deepen knowledge about democratic values, rights and freedoms of citizens, features of using tools of public participation, the need to participate in solving problems of state and local importance, to be an active part of the community, based on European standards and positive publication of a collective monograph and scientific articles on the subject of the project.
