Associate Professor of the Department of Fundamental Jurisprudence and Constitutional Law Olha Stohova Participates in the VI Summer School of Professional Development on General Theory of Law

From July 2 to July 4, 2026, Olha Stohova, Associate Professor of the Department of Fundamental Jurisprudence and Constitutional Law at the Educational and Scientific Institute of Law (Sumy State University), participated in the Sixth Summer School of Professional Development, titled “General Theoretical Jurisprudence and Legal Practice: The Golden Ratio of Interaction.” The event was hosted by the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy.

This year’s program, organized in cooperation with the Supreme Court and supported by the OSCE Support Programme for Ukraine, convened legal educators, judges, and scholars from across the country to address the modernization of legal education. The primary focus of the school was the continuous dialogue between contemporary legal theory and judicial practice.

Over the course of three days of intensive work, Olha Stohova had the opportunity to engage in professional discussions alongside judges from the European Court of Human Rights and the Supreme Court. The key topics examined during the event included:

  • Judicial practice as a source of law;
  • Specifics of legal argumentation and legal writing;
  • Modern approaches to the interpretation and application of law;
  • The consolidation of European values and the principle of the rule of law in the context of overcoming the post-Soviet legacy.

Furthermore, the event featured the presentation of the second, updated edition of the fundamental textbook General Theory of Law, edited by Professor Mykola Koziubra, which holds particular significance for the teaching of general theoretical disciplines.

The participation of faculty members from the Department of Fundamental Jurisprudence and Constitutional Law in leading national professional initiatives constitutes a vital component of the Department’s development. Such engagement facilitates the professional advancement of academic staff, the exchange of advanced academic experience, and the implementation of innovative approaches to teaching fundamental legal disciplines within the educational process of our Institute.
