On March 1, 2022, the implementation of the educational project ERASMUS-JMO-2021-HEI-TCH-RSCH -101047645 began at the Department of Fundamental Jurisprudence and Constitutional Law «EULOCDEM: Local Democracy: European Best Practices for Ukraine», co-funded by EU Executive Agency for Education, Audiovisual and Culture under the Erasmus + Jean Monnet Module.

Ukraine’s desire to achieve democratic European standards and obligations under the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union necessitates the introduction of new practices of cooperation between public authorities, local governments and local residents. Such new practices should be the instruments of local democracy, which have proven themselves in the countries of the European Union. Therefore, the project is designed to promote the development of mechanisms and tools of local democracy in Ukraine on the basis of European experience.
The project team focuses its activities on training of pro-European-oriented specialists and promotion of European best practies of local democracy.
The objectives of the project are:
– reach out to a wider public and spread knowledge about the best practices of local democracy: to wider society (beyond academia and specialized audiences) bringing the EU closer to the public;
– to promote excellence in teaching and researching in the field of EU democracy instruments in general and local democracy in particular;
– to provide students, graduates, civil society organizations and residents of Sumy region with knowledge about the instruments of local democracy, to promote positive EU practices on the use of instruments of local democracy, to encourage its borrowing to national practice;
– to promote innovation in teaching and researching, including the development of an open online course and the use of blended learning instruments.
