Lecture for pupils “What do you need to know about the tools of local democracy?”
On May 26, 2022, the senior lecturer of the department, Viкtoriіa Pankratova, gave a lecture “What you need to know about the tools of local democracy?” for students in 10-11 grades of schools in the city of Sumy.
The event was organized within the framework of the educational project ERASMUS-JMO-2021-HEI-TCH-RSCH -101047645 – “EULOCDEM: Local Democracy: Best European Practices for Ukraine,” co-financed by the EU Executive Agency for Education, Audiovisual and Culture Jean Monnet’s Erasmus + module.
In the current state of martial law, the issue of using the tools of local democracy has receded into the background. But after the victory, the issue of effective local democracy and the use of its devices will become a necessary lever in rebuilding communities. The lecturer acquainted students with the main tools of local democracy: citizens’ appeals, e-petition, access to meetings, general meetings, advisory bodies, control and supervisory bodies, participation budget, self-organization bodies, local initiatives, and public hearings.
