Debate “Electronic Democracy: Effective People’s Power or Hidden Danger?”

On October 19, Sumy State University hosted the debate “Electronic Democracy: Effective People’s Power or Hidden Danger?”, which was dedicated to the European Week of Local Democracy and is being implemented within the framework of the educational project “Local Democracy: Best European Practices for Ukraine” (ERASMUS-JMO-2021- HEI-TCH-RSCH-101047645) under the Erasmus+ program directed by Jean Monet.

Four teams of creative, motivated students took part in the event: “Themida” (Sumy State University), “Pazl” (Sumy branch of KhNUVS), “Agrarvard” (SNAU), “End of Summer” (SumSU).

The judging of the event was carried out by objective and impartial judges: Andrii Mosha, head of the Department of Communications and Information Policy of the Department of Communications and Information Policy of SMR;. the head of the sector of the Sumy legal aid bureau of the free legal aid department of the Sumy local center for the provision of free secondary legal aid Anna Kozhushko and associate professor of the department of the Federal University of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Aviation. Sciences, associate professor Olga Stogova.

The teams were motivated and inspired by academic supervisors: Anna Slavko, assistant professor of the MEEPPP department of Sumy State University; Mykola Mykhailichenko, associate professor of the Department of State and Legal Disciplines and Ukrainian Studies of SNAU and Lesya Goncharenko, associate professor of the Department of Legal Disciplines of the Sumy branch of KhNUVS.

The teams defended their position, presented arguments, and asked sharp questions, so it was not easy for the judges to determine the winners. The gap between the teams was minimal, which testifies to the diligent preparation, thirst for victory and active public attitude of the youth.
