Baltic University Program (BUP)

The  second session of webinars for the Baltic University program took place on January 12, 2021. The Baltic University Programme (BUP) is a lively network of 89 universities located in 12 countries of the Baltic Sea Drainage Area. It started in 1991 as an enthusiastic effort to bridge the information divide left by the Iron Curtain and has been growing ever since. Thirty years of a fruitful cooperation later, the BUP and its mission can hardly be more topical: a sustainable development of the Baltic Sea Region.

The presenter was Dr Shepherd Urenje, specialist in teacher education at SWEDESD – Swedish International Centre of Education for Sustainable Development, Uppsala university. The topic of the lecture was “Implementing Sustainability at Universities”.Dr Shepherd Urenje analyzed the main goals of sustainability learning. Shepherd Urenje also presented methods for implementing principles of sustainable development in university education and research. The question of the need to change the goals of sustainable development in connection with the COVID pandemic 19 raised interest.The Head of the Department of Fundamental Jurisprudence and Constitutional Law V.V. Sukhonos,  associate professor of the department, O.V. Stogova  and senior lecturer of the department V.O. Pankratova took part in the webinar.
